Application for Korean Legal History Research Center Visiting Scholars

The Korean Legal History Research Center operates a visiting scholars program for outstanding scholars from Korea and abroad interested in Korean legal history. We expect our visiting scholars to actively engage in various academic and exchange activities during their stay.
The appointment of a visiting scholar at the Korean Legal History Research Center involves a primary internal review and a secondary administrative process.

Primary Screening

The center’s internal screening committee reviews and makes a decision to approve or deny the application.

· Required Documents: Application, Research Proposal, CV (free form)

· Review Period: Approximately 2 weeks during the semester / More than 1 month during vacation periods.

· Applications must be submitted at least 3 months prior to the desired start date (For example, if you desire to visit starting from September 1, 2025, please submit your application no later than May 31, 2025).

Secondary Administrative Procedure

After completion of the initial document review and approval, applicants who pass the primary screening are required to submit the necessary documents for the appointment as a visiting scholar.
Visiting scholars are generally expected to be affiliated with another institution and require approval from the home university's headquarters. Registering as a visiting scholar typically takes around one month, and foreign citizens need to complete additional procedures for obtaining a visa.
